Import a server from another host

The importer copies a server from another host straight into one of your SwiftServers servers. You don’t need to download anything to your computer.

The importer copies worlds and player data, plugins, mods and their settings, and server.properties, the whitelist, ops and bans.

It leaves the old server JAR, logs and caches behind, because your SwiftServers server keeps its own software. Set it to the same Minecraft version you had, or newer, before you import. See change the software or version.

  • Create a server on SwiftServers to import into, or pick an existing one. The import replaces its current world, plugins and settings.
  • Make sure the server’s storage is big enough. The importer measures the copy first and stops if it doesn’t fit.
  • Find the SFTP login at your old host. Look for an SFTP or File access page. It shows an address, often like sftp://node1.example.com:2022, a username and a password. The password is usually your old panel password.
  1. Open the server, then Manage, then Import server.
  2. Enter the SFTP address, Port, Username and Password from your old host.
  3. If the server is in a sub-folder at your old host, open Server in a sub-folder? and enter the folder. Most of the time the importer finds it by itself.
  4. Check what the importer found, then start the import.

The page shows each step: stop this server, connect to your old host, clear the current files, copy your files, and set up for SwiftServers. Big servers take a while. You can leave the page once the import starts.

When it says Your server is here, click Go to console and start the server.

The importer turns off BungeeCord in spigot.yml, because SwiftServers uses its own proxy. If a plugin from your old host expects BungeeCord or Velocity forwarding, it may need setting up again.
