Frequently asked questions

Yes. Every account can run two free servers with 2 GB of memory and 10 GB of storage, and you don’t need a card. Free servers sleep when nobody is online and wake when someone joins. Paid plans give more memory, storage and 24/7 uptime.

No. Every player needs a genuine Minecraft account. The SwiftServers proxy checks accounts before players reach any server, and this can’t be turned off for one server.

Why does my console say the server is in offline mode?

Section titled “Why does my console say the server is in offline mode?”

That’s normal. Your server sits behind the SwiftServers proxy, which checks every account before forwarding the player. The warning doesn’t mean cracked accounts can join.

Yes. They use the same address with port 19132. See join your server.

Can I get an IP address and port instead of a name?

Section titled “Can I get an IP address and port instead of a name?”

No. SwiftServers sends players to the right server by the address they type, so players need <name>.swiftservers.org or your custom domain. Players can also join play.swiftservers.org and run /join <name>.

Free servers sleep after 5 minutes with nobody online, and paid plans after 10 minutes. Joining the address wakes the server. See start and stop your server.

What happens if I don’t use my server for a while?

Section titled “What happens if I don’t use my server for a while?”

A free server that’s offline for 7 days is hibernated, and one that isn’t started for 30 days is deleted. You get reminders first. Paid servers are never removed for being idle. See sleep, hibernation and deletion.

Upgrade the server’s plan. Free servers have 2 GB, and paid plans go up to 8 GB.

Yes. Buy another server slot for 250 credits on the dashboard. See credits.

Run op <your name> in the console, or use Grant operator on the Players page while you’re online.

How do I let a friend help manage my server?

Section titled “How do I let a friend help manage my server?”

Invite them as a subuser. You choose what they can do.

Use SFTP. The details are under Files, then SFTP. Plain FTP isn’t available. See connect with SFTP.

The panel installs Modrinth modpacks when you create a server. For a CurseForge pack, create a server with the same loader and Minecraft version as the pack, download the pack’s server files, and upload its mods and config folders with SFTP.

Use a Velocity network. The panel creates the proxy and sets up forwarding to your servers for you.

No. Plugins only run on the server. Mods are different: players usually need the same mods. See install mods and modpacks.
