I can't connect to my server
Work through these checks in order. Most connection problems come from the first three.
1. Is the server running?
Section titled “1. Is the server running?”Open the server’s Console in the panel and look at the status.
- If it says Running, go to the next check.
- If it’s offline, click Start. A sleeping server also starts when someone joins its address, so offline is only a problem if it doesn’t come up.
- If it says Waiting in startup queue, the server starts when its node has room. See the startup queue.
- If it’s Hibernated, click Restore & start and wait for the restore to finish.
- If it starts and then stops, see my server won’t start or keeps crashing.
2. Is the address right?
Section titled “2. Is the address right?”- Copy the address from the panel instead of typing it. It’s
<name>.swiftservers.org. - On Java, don’t add a port. On Bedrock, use port
19132. - If someone renamed the server, its address changed too.
- If you use a custom domain, open Network and check that it says the domain is ready. Cloudflare users must set the record to DNS only.
3. Does your version match?
Section titled “3. Does your version match?”A message like Outdated client, Outdated server or Incompatible client means your game version doesn’t match the server.
- Pick the server’s version in your launcher. The panel shows it on the Software tab of Settings.
- On Paper, Purpur, Leaf, Arclight and Fabric, ViaVersion lets most other versions join. Check that Keep ViaVersion installed and updated is on, on the Plugins page’s Installed tab, then restart.
- On a modded server, you need the same loader, mods and mod versions as the server.
4. Can your account join?
Section titled “4. Can your account join?”- SwiftServers needs a genuine Minecraft account. Cracked launchers, TLauncher and offline accounts can’t join.
- Failed to verify username usually clears after you restart the launcher and sign in again.
- You are not whitelisted on this server means the whitelist is on. The owner adds you on the Players page.
- If you’re banned from the server, only its owner can unban you.
- The first time you join SwiftServers you may be asked to type numbers from a map, and to accept the rules. See join your server.
5. Is it your network?
Section titled “5. Is it your network?”- Turn off any VPN or proxy.
- Restart Minecraft.
- Remove the server from your list and add it again.
- Ask a friend on another internet connection to try.
- Check status.swiftservers.org for an outage.
Still stuck?
Section titled “Still stuck?”Open a ticket in Discord with the server address and the exact error text. See get support.
